Highland offers many ways for members to participate in global ministry:
Highland participates in the Presbyterian Denomination Offerings
- Cents-Ability originated in 1976 as "Two-Cents-A-Meal," a project begun by Presbyterian Women to involve individuals and families in a corporate response to world hunger
- One Great Hour of Sharing used to fight hunger, provide housing and for disaster relief
- Pentecost Offering helps children, youth and young adults at risk
- Peacemaking
Offering supports peacemaking initiatives and education programs
- Christmas Joy Offering providing congregations direct ways of supporting specific causes that help those in need.
Other world mission projects that Highland supports are:
- Alternative Gifts International - the global mission of AGI is to send authentic, life-giving gifts to a needy world - gifts that build a partnership with people in crisis and that protect and preserve the earth's endangered environment.
- Blankets + - (formerly called Tools & Blankets) is a special Church World Mission program providing funds to help people in need around the world, including the United States.
- CROP Walk is an event for Church World Service which is an international relief, development, and refugee resettlement agency operating in over 80 countries, including the United States. While Church World Service is the primary beneficiary of the walk, Crisis Control Ministry and Sunnyside Ministry each receive a portion of the proceeds. Last year, the walk raised almost $50,000.
- Evelyn's Baskets of Love and Life, a project started by Jane Bartel of Highland Presbyterian Church to help babies in Guatemala born with cleft lips and palates (CLP) survive and thrive. The baskets contain specialty bottles, a manual breast pump, and other items. Formula is also provided if needed.
- Living Waters for the World is the global mission resource of the Synod of Living Waters (Presbyterian Church USA).
- Missionary Family Counseling providing pastoral counseling and support to adults, adolescents, and family members with a particular focus on the counseling and support of missionaries, clergy, and their family members of all denominations.
- The Moringa Tree Project is one of the many important projects of the Medical Benevolence Foundation designed to help feed the starving people of the world.

Juan Ana “Fair Trade” Coffee
Now Being Served in the Gathering Place
As the college workcampers returned home from their mission trip in Guatemala, they packed their luggage with
as much fresh coffee as the airlines would allow.
(Pictured below: College workcamper, Sarah Kate, with new friends)
Be sure to stop by the Gathering Place on Sunday mornings before
and after the church school hour for a piping hot cup of delicious
Juan Ana Coffee fairly traded from the Highland’s of Guatemala.
You can also purchase a bag to take home with you! “Fair trade”
means that the farmers of Guatemala are getting a fair price for the most delicious coffee
they can grow. Their hard work is justly compensated and we all reap the benefits!
You can purchase Juan Ana Coffee in the Gallery Hall for $8 per bag or 2 for $15. (Coffee
makes for great Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, and hostess gifts.)
