Intergenerational Book Group: The Global Service Committee is excited to bring our church family together to read and discuss The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, an award-winning, fantastical tale that explores the intersection of nature and technology; bullying; family and friendship; the need for community; and the power of compassion. All ages are welcome to join us for discussion immediately after worship in the Ardmore Room on Sunday, July 12. Refreshments will be provided. Several copies of The Wild Robot are available to borrow in the Gallery Hall; you can return your copy at the book group and it will be donated to Ashley Elementary School. We hope you can join us!
On July 12, don’t forget to bring your gifts for our monthly Hunger Offering: pasta sauce for Crisis Control and your 5 Cents a Meal for our Presbytery! Thank you for your donations supporting neighbors who hunger in our community and around the world.

The Big Chill for the Shalom Project, July 18, 1:00 P.M. at Knollwood Baptist Church
Highland’s youth are heading back and this year, we are the defending champions! Our youth have picked the theme “Scooped in America” for their flavors inspired by classic tastes of America. Groups from across the community will bring their best homemade ice cream for guests to sample and vote on before crowning the 2026 Big Chill Champion. Come scoop, sample, cheer on our youth, and support the Shalom Project in the tastiest competition of the summer.

July 19, 4:00 p.m., Bad Faith 2026 Screening, Highland’s Fellowship Hall – This documentary provides an eye-opening look at the history and political inner workings of Christian Nationalism. Afterward, we will gather for a guided discussion to process the film through the lens of faith, exploring how we can actively promote Christian love, truth, and democratic values in our community. RSVP here or call the church, 336-724-6303.
