Our Lady of Salem Shelter for Women – Mon. Oct. 26, 2026 – Mon. Mar. 1, 2027

Sadly for our community, Bethesda Center, the only year-round shelter serving women in our community, is closing its doors on October 26. (They are hoping it will be temporary as they seek financial stability.) Thankfully for our community, Our Lady of Salem Shelter for Women (formerly known as St. Timothy’s Overflow Shelter) and The Dwelling are stepping in to meet the needs.

Our Lady of Salem is opening their doors at St. Timothy’s 21 days early this fall. Here’s how you can help. Sign up to support the women: drop off to-go food bags, join with friends to cook and serve a dinner for them, welcome them, or provide hospitality. The sign up has all the details about serving. “We know how to do this work because we’ve been doing it together for years,” said Emily Harkins, Lead Pastor and Developer of The Dwelling. “Every winter, churches across our city open their doors, volunteers show up with meals, and people from all walks of life come together to make sure our neighbors have somewhere warm and safe to sleep. What we’re facing right now is an extraordinary challenge, but it’s also an opportunity for our community to do what it has done so beautifully before: show up for one another.”
