What a gift of Confirmation Sunday as we had the joy of watching our confirmands stand before the church and say yes to the affirming their promises made at baptisms and joy of the shared life in ministry ahead! It was a beautiful reminder that faith is never something we do alone. It is nurtured by families, mentors, friends, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, and a congregation that keeps showing up with love.
And now, as we turn toward summer, we also turn toward Pentecost this Sunday. On this day we celebrate the Holy Spirit filling the church with courage, imagination, and new life. That feels like just the right way to step into this next season together: grateful for what God has been doing, open to where the Spirit is leading, and ready for a summer full of connection, joy, and growth.
Quest for the Best: Pizza – Mellow Mushroom this Sunday!
Our summer tasting challenge is back and this year it’s all about pizza! In just a few weeks, we’ll begin sampling slices from around town. We’ll try a new place, rate what we taste, and keep our going until we crown an ultimate champion at summer’s end. Come hungry, bring a friend, and get ready from some deliciously competitive fun!

Intergenerational Book Group
Help Pick the Date!
Highland’s Global Service Committee met with Highland’s Youth to discuss book genres for this summer’s intergenerational book group, and we heard them loud and clear: Fantasy is a favorite! We’re so excited to bring our church together to read The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, a fantastical tale that explores the intersection of nature and technology, bullying, family and friendship, the need for community, and the power of compassion. Photographers and Videographers Wanted!
Our Stewardship Committee is looking for volunteers who enjoy photography or videography (or just have a phone!) to help us capture the life and ministry of our church. With so many wonderful things happening (five events this Sunday alone!) we would love help documenting these moments so we can share the story of Highland’s ministry more fully. Summer Trip Sign Ups – Last Call!
- Montreat Youth Conference June 7–13 – Current 8th through 12th grade in high school: A week where young people are affirmed in who they are and who God is calling them to be. It’s a week centered on worship, community, and honest faith where youth are reminded they are deeply loved, they belong, and their faith matters.
- Massanetta Middle School Conference July 14–17 – Current 5th through 8th grades: Join a life-giving week where hundreds of middle schoolers gather each summer. We’ll share gatherings designed just for middlers, including worship, games, workshops, and small groups led by high school Advocates.
