Youth

The Youth Ministry of Highland Presbyterian Church is a place for middle and high school students to learn, grow, worship, fellowship and play together. As a ministry of Highland, we hope to create an atmosphere where youth can deepen their faith, ask big questions and bond together in community. See the Youth Fellowship page for what’s happening this week.

Build to Belong

Our Youth Council has chosen “Build to Belong” from Matthew 7:24–27 as our theme for 2025–2026. Jesus calls us to build our lives on solid ground, and this year we’ll explore what it means to build a faith that lasts—rooted in community, grounded in God’s Word, and welcoming to all. We can’t wait to see how God shapes us as we build a place of true belonging. Together we’ll focus on three goals:

  • Strengthening Community: Building spaces where everyone feels welcome and valued
  • Deepening Faith: Learning to live out faith and practice in daily life
  • Creating a Foundation for the Future: Growing habits of service, prayer, and connection that last

Looking for New Youth Ministry Partners
Think partnering with youth sounds fun? It is! We are looking for some new faces from our faith family to jump in to serve with our youth. We have a grand list of wide ranging opportunities stretching through this next calendar year. You may be interested in providing dinner to serving as a Sunday morning teacher to joining on a trip! There is sure to be something suited for everyone’s gifts. You only need willing hands and a joyful heart to share. Contact Courtney Montoya to find out more.

Mission and Vision:

We drafted this mission statement as a youth group about who we are and what we do at Highland:

“As the Youth Group of Highland Presbyterian Church, our ongoing mission is to grow as a community of friends and as thankful children of God. We do so through creativity and fun, making lasting connections in a peaceful environment as we seek to strengthen our faith, impact our community and change our lives.”

We believe this says a lot about who we are and who we hope to become as we journey together.

Programs:

We live out this mission in our youth programming by being intentional and thoughtful about what youth will experience at Highland. We strive to shape a well-rounded program intended to meet youth where they are and help them encounter faith in Jesus Christ in unique ways. Our weekly Sunday night gathering, Youth Fellowship, is a space for youth to have conversation and spend time growing with each other. We have Sunday School classes on Sunday mornings for each age group, middle and high school, and also a confirmation class for those going through the confirmation process. We also believe in offering opportunities for special retreats and mission trips to give youth an opportunity to put their faith into practice.
